What a Move to Tillamook Has to Offer

Tillamook is located on the Pacific Ocean at the southeast end of Tillamook Bay, and the city is the county seat of Tillamook County, OR. As of 2010, the population was near 5,000, situated on 1.7 square miles of land. There are five rivers nearby, and they are the Tillamook, Trask, Wilson, Kilchis and the Miami.

The climate in Tillamook is a bit rainy, but thanks to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the temperatures are mild year-round. While there is some winter flooding, there is rarely any snow. Summer is dry there, but the average temperatures are in the upper 60s during most of the season.

Tillamook is a great place to start a family as the median age of residents is about 33 years, and almost one third of the population consists of children under the age of 18. The economy is composed mostly of dairy farms that produce milk for the Tillamook County Creamery Association, and the area is experiencing a resurgence of the lumber industry.

One place to visit is the Tillamook Cheese Factory, the Tillamook County Creamery Association’s first cheese factory. It serves as a visitor center to the over 1 million tourists who visit the facility every year. While visiting the factory, you can take a self-guided tour that features interactive kiosks and video displays. While you’re there, you can learn about cheese making and packing and about ice cream making by watching the main production floor from a special viewing gallery.
If you’re an outdoorsy type, there is much to do in Tillamook. Of course, the city is right by the ocean, and there are opportunities to kayak, take a train ride on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad or visit the Cape Meares Lighthouse.

Reviews from oregon Customers

  • Just that after reading about the horror stories for the fly by night movers my choice to go with a nationally recognized company i didn't have to worry about my stuff getting lost or not showing up especially with the border deal. It would be nice if was less expensive.
