Frequently Asked Questions
Never pack your dishes horizontally, like they are typically stacked in your kitchen cabinet. This requires the bottom dish to carry the weight of all others stacked above it. Instead, pack them vertically, like files in a file cabinet.
I recently crated and moved a taxidermist stuffed emperor penguin. When you see penguins in a nature show on television, they are surrounded by snow, ice and other penguins, with nothing to give a size perspective. This was a 4 1/2 foot tall bird, shaped like a fire plug, and physically intimidating. I would not want to meet up with an angry, adorable penguin in a dark alley!
We treat special items as if they were our own, making several notes as to why they are special, and how the shipper would like them handled. Since these are items of sentiment, as often as not, I realize that no amount of money can replace them, so if and when feasible, I always recommend crating for these type of items.
The best time to move is daytime, although we do moves at nighttime as well. Although relocation volume is typically higher during the summer months, with a century of experience, and as one of the largest moving companies in the world, our shippers can expect a premier service whenever they need to move.
We provide packing services, crosstown moves, interstate moves, storage options, office and industrial relocations, special products and special events moves, dedicated move coordination, and smiles. Lots and lots of smiles.
In addition to the charities that we participate in at a company and individual level, we are currently partnered with Move for Hunger, a year round program whereby our movers pick up unwanted, non perishable food items from our shippers at the time of their move and donate them to local food banks. Personally, I also donate time and money to our local St. Vincent de Paul Society.
