Frequently Asked Questions
Use only strong, corrugated cartons with covers. We can supply you with specially made cartons, for everything from mattresses to clothing and mirrors. The added protection of mover-provided cartons may avoid damage that results from the use of poor-quality packing materials. Your alternative is to collect boxes discarded by your grocery or liquor store. Save old newspapers for use in packing, but remember that ink may rub off and stain clothing or other items. WARNING: Insect eggs and insects such as roaches can travel in food boxes so keep this in mind when getting boxes from food stores.
Over the past century Hansen Bros. has moved just about everything one can imagine. Quite possibly the most unusual things we've moved were the full set of artifacts for the Museum of History and Industry when we moved them from Montlake to their new location on South Lake Union. A few articles of note were the 5,400 lbs. Seattle Fire Department Bell, the iconic Seattle "toe" truck, the 15' Carroll's Jewelers Clock, and the Slo-Mo-Shun IV hydroplane. Honorable mention goes to a full-size Narwhal tusk - yes it was properly documented and legal!
Given our background moving complete museums, libraries, and exhibits, we have the knowledge and experience to move virtually anything with the care and expertise it deserves.
We believe that "anytime" is the best time to move as our entire focus is on serving our customers on their timeline with the best moving and storage services whether they're moving down the street, across the country, or around the world.
We offer full service storage, portable storage (PortaBox), commercial warehousing, freight shipping, professional packing and unpacking, and exclusive Move Management (HB Move Management) services to better meet the needs of our residential, commercial, and corporate relocation customers. Our experienced team looks forward to providing first-class service to you while handling your belongings with care and consideration--just as we have done for well over a century.
