How to Easily Move Villas in the UAE

UAE Villas

Are you moving villas in the UAE? Whether you are relocating down the street or moving to a completely different city, moving villas can be a headache at the best of times. At Allied, we’ve helped with hundreds of villa relocations so we know how to ensure a successful move! Here are our best tips on how to easily move villas in the UAE.

Inform your Landlord or Real Estate Agent

If you are moving out of your rented villa, you will need to inform your Landlord. Dubai’s property laws state that you need to give at least 90 days notice prior to the end of the tenancy. This should also give you adequate time to find a new villa to relocate to, if you haven’t already. If you are planning to sell your current villa, then you should inform your real estate agent as soon as possible so they can begin the process of listing your villa for purchase.

Follow a moving checklist

There’s no doubt that moving villas can be stressful! With so many different things to do, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. By following a moving checklist, you can ensure that you haven’t forgotten anything important in the lead up to and on the big day. Allied’s handy moving checklist includes everything you need, even providing an easy to follow week by week guide.

Book movers as soon as possible

Booking your villa movers is the most important thing you need to do when moving villas! You will need a moving company which has experience in moving villas, not to mention all the right equipment and expertise to ensure that your relocation is as seamless as possible! We recommend using a villa moving company with multiple services including pet relocation and professional packing so you can have all your relocating needs services catered for, without the hassle of multiple providers. As soon as you know that you are moving, you should book your movers. Otherwise you may not be able to move on the day you want.

Begin packing early

Often left to the last minute, starting early on your packing is an easy way to ensure that your villa move goes smoothly! Packing weeks or even months before your move gives you enough time to ensure everything is packed properly and will be secure for your move. Even a move down the street requires more delicate items to be packed and protected so they arrive in one piece! You can use a professional packing and unpacking service, which will ensure that your belongings are ready and secure for their journey.

We recommend taking the time to assess your belongings and furniture and think about what will work best in your new space. You can donate or sell unwanted items. In the case of needing to downsize, using a storage service is an ideal way to keep items that are meaningful to you without compromising precious space in your new villa.

Ensure the return of your deposit

While the previous law which stipulated tenants must return the villa/property to its original condition no longer applies, it’s still recommended that you leave your rental property in a clean and good condition to ensure the return of your deposit. You may wish to fill in any holes, repair broken handles/light fixtures, and generally give the villa a thorough clean.

Arrange utilities

When it comes to moving villas, you will want to ensure that your utilities (such as DEWA and SEWA) are disconnected at your previous address and all set-up at your new one! There can be some downtime when it comes to setting up new utilities so make sure you arrange this at least a few days in advance - otherwise you may be spending the first night in your new villa in the dark!

Prepare your new villa

Before you move into your new villa, you will want to ensure that it’s clean and ready! It’s the best time to do any prior repairs, renovations or painting. While your villa should be cleaned by the previous tenants/owner, you may want to do your own clean. You can also stock your new villa with some essentials like toilet paper and bottled water. This can make the move in process less stressful and avoid you getting caught out before you unpack.
