Clearing customs can be a maze of unfamiliar processes and documentation. When you move with Allied International, just relax and rely on your Coordinator to guide you through the process of clearing customs. Your coordinator will prepare you best for what to expect once you enter into your new country.

How Does my International Moving Coordinator Help?

Clearing customs has become increasingly complicated due to heightened security concerns. At Allied International, you can depend on the expertise and knowledge of your Coordinator to guide you through clearing customs. The process will begin at your destination with the local Allied International office.

Beginning Customs Clearance for International Moving

Your International Relocation Coordinator will help you complete the required documents, and then forward them to our authorized destination agent. At your destination, the local Allied International office will receive the paperwork forwarded to them by your Coordinator. The destination agent, in turn, verifies that all of your information is correct and complete with your Move Manager before passing the documents on to the customs broker. The destination agent will then contact you to arrange a mutually convenient time for delivery. Be sure to be available to arrange this delivery time.

Once you arrive in your destination country, remember to contact Allied immediately. Failure to make timely contact could result in delays for clearing customs and additional storage costs. 'Demurrage' or port rent is an additional expense incurred if we are unable to clear your shipment on time. Airports levy similar penalties if airfreight shipments are delayed. To avoid delays and additional costs, it is important to make contact with the local Allied International office as soon as you arrive.

Restricted Items During International Moving

Each country has its own list of restricted items. To avoid any problems or delays in clearing your shipment through customs, customs documents are included in the information packets that we provide to you at the start of your move. You'll also find a list of items prohibited from entry into your destination country so there are no surprises later on. It is best to adhere to these restrictions and pack your household accordingly to avoid problems with clearing customs.

Shipment Tracking During International Moving

In addition to our services for clearing customs, we also provide technologically advanced satellite tracking of your shipment throughout its journey. Our state-of-the-art online shipment tracking system, GlobalCom, will allow you to monitor your shipment while in transit - from loading through customs to delivery. We have shipment tracking on all our freights and flights, so your shipment will never be too far away. For the most part they did what they said they would do. The ppl involved were extremely courteous and customer service oriented. One of the requests was not followed through. I haven't completed unpacking.

Everything was perfect, the only glitch came with them not estimating enough. The weight went over and nothing was added to the list. Things were removed from the list and the weight was still over. The rep low balled it, he said we needed less than what we needed. He didn't have enough wardrobes. The other company said I needed 16 wardrobes and this one gave me 8. Little disappointed.

Every person was professional, and the local office made sure that everything was right. The movers left without packing everything that we had requested to be packed, so they had to come back after I called the local office.

Allied didn't unpack one of my dressers. I had a great sales experience but there was little communication. I had to do most of it myself instead of the coordinator. The team didn't unpack one of the dress drawer behind.
