Hiking

Hong Kong is an excellent place for hiking. Trails cross the territory and its islands through mountains, coastal and jungle trails. The major trails are MacLehose Trail at 100km, The Wilson Trail is 78km, 70km Lantau Trail and the Hong Kong Trail which is 50km long.

The efficient public transport network provides access to the various trails.

There are several hiking groups such as Hiking Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Trampers, the Natural History Society, Meet Up and the YWCA.

SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS:

Whatever your sport, you should find it covered in Hong Kong.  The Leisure & Cultural Services Department website details the public facilities for a large variety of sporting activities.

Windsurfing: Boards can be hired at Big Wave Bay, Stanley beach, Sai Kung, Cheung Chau and Tai Po.

ARTS & LOCAL CULTURE:

There are many special interest groups, clubs and societies in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Arts Festival is held annually and features overseas and local artists in music, theatre, dance, film and exhibition programs. Other annual events include, The International Film Festival, Le French May and the Literary Festival.

The Royal Asiatic Society, the Asia Society, the Hong Kong Anthropological Society and the The University of Hong Kong Museum Society, will be of interest to those who want to learn more about history, art and culture in Asia.
