How Has Brexit Affected Global Mobility?

Unless you’ve been stranded on a desert island for the past little while, you have of course heard about the British people’s decision to leave the EU (referred to commonly as ‘Brexit’) on the 23rd of June this year. While it wasn’t a huge split in the amount of people for and against (51.9% vs 48.1%), the results dictated that the majority wanted out. Now, this isn’t something that will happen overnight of course, however, over the next couple of years there are several big changes that need to happen. One such change will be in terms of corporate relocation.

As there’s most likely a bit of time before any of these changes come into effect, businesses have the ability to re-assess their relocation policies. Those in charge of mobility will need to consider that the departure from the EU may complicate immigration processes, especially in terms of working visas. Whether it’s British citizens being relocated to a different country or vice versa, it’s important for mobility managers to keep an eye on changes in legislation both at home and abroad.

Another factor is the fluctuating value of the pound; increases or decreases will change the cost of living allowance that’s allocated per month (if there is one), so it’s very important to stay up to date with the latest market figures.

The Allied team unfortunately don’t have access to a fully-functional crystal ball, so we’re unable to know with 100% certainty what will happen due to Brexit in terms of international relocation. However, there’s one thing we can be certain of – our level of service will never fluctuate from outstanding. Also, our visa and immigration experts have the ability to assist your employees with any and all changes that may happen with the red tape surrounding global corporate moves to or from Britain.

As it stands right now, there have been no changes to date in terms of mobility, so we remain focused on delivering our exceptional services to more than 50,000 singles, couples and families each year.
