That’s why we’ve streamlined the way we relocate families to avoid losses and damages as much as possible. If you suspect that something has gone missing or was lost in transit, here’s how you can take steps to recover your item.
Take Time to Fill Out Forms Ahead of Time: The number one best way to avoid losing items is to ensure that you work with your relocation specialist and packers to list all items on their proper forms. Without the proper documentation, it will be impossible to prove that anything was misplaced during the move, and recovery becomes difficult. With an Allied move, all items should be numbered and detailed on your signed inventory forms.
Purchase Extra Valuation Protection: Every time you move with Allied, you get basic moving protection, which covers your belongings at a weight-determined rate. This works well for everyday furniture and household items, but for those more precious belongings, we suggest you opt for Extra Care Protection (ECP) and fill out the proper High Value Inventory Forms. These extra layers of protection mean that you can receive full value replacement, should something get lost in transit.
Take Special Care with Sentimental Items: If you have personal belongings you feel to be irreplaceable, you always have the option to keep those items with you during your move instead of having a company transport them. No amount of valuation protection may be able to replace a family heirloom or important piece of jewelry.
Go Over Your Belongings: When you arrive at your destination, you’ll go over your inventory with your driver. This is your opportunity to ensure that every item is accounted for and in its place. Take your time and do a thorough job (even after a long day of unpacking!). Discovering a missing item now is the best scenario than discovering it later, since you may not be eligible for a full replacement if you sign off on the inventory checklist before your driver leaves.
File a Claim: Allied has a streamlined process for filing claims and getting the help you need. Fill out our online claim form to begin the trace process of your belongings. You can also call your local moving agent and Allied’s corporate offices to notify them of the missing item and submitted claim. Lastly, if you notice a missing item shortly after your delivery, you may be able to contact your driver directly so they can immediately look for the item during their next stop and unload.
We will do our best to begin an investigation and start your claims process as soon as possible. When we can, we will recover the item (which may be in one of our warehouses or simply misplaced). When we can’t, you will receive compensation in keeping with the protection plan of your choosing.

In the event that the item is not recoverable, we’ll be on your side as you consider your options and replace your personal effects.
