SIRVA Named to InformationWeek 500 as Leading Technology Innovator
IT Innovations Support Relocation Redefined Strategy
CHICAGO, October 4, 2004 — SIRVA Inc., (NYSE: SIR), a global relocation services provider, has been named to the InformationWeek 500, a prestigious listing of the most innovative users of information technology in the United States. This is the third year SIRVA was included on the list.
For 16 years, the InformationWeek 500 has tracked organizations' IT agendas, providing a unique opportunity to understand and examine their business practices across core areas of technology operations. Companies named to this list demonstrate a pattern of technological and organizational innovation. SIRVA has been recognized for IT innovation this year along with several of the world’s leading corporations.
“Tech initiatives balance between opportunistic investment and cost effectiveness,” said Rusty Weston, editor of InformationWeek Research. “On average, the InformationWeek 500 will invest approximately 4 percent of their annual revenue on technology in 2004 for an average cash layout of $334 million.
Business-intelligence tools, content-management software, and increased use of automated processes are widespread strategies aimed at squeezing more costs out of operations.”
“The InformationWeek 500 has also made major strides in corporate accountability in the past 12 months,” said Stephanie Stahl, editor-in-chief of InformationWeek. “Compliance with government regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and the Can-Spam Act accounts for some of the progress. Yet 99 percent of the nation’s most innovative companies analyze the return on their IT investments and nearly 90 percent conduct performance assessments on existing business and technology processes, signifying that accountability among this year’s 500 is as much about meeting internal expectations as it is about achieving externally imposed guidelines.”
Ann M. Harten, senior vice president and CIO of SIRVA, said, “SIRVA is committed to the development of its IT infrastructure as it moves forward with its relocation redefined program to focus on its high growth, high return relocation services and related network solutions. SIRVA has a distinct competitive advantage in this sector and we are pleased that our IT innovations to support this strategy and serve our global customer base have been recognized.”
The InformationWeek 500 is the most detailed source of industry-specific IT budget data. The research project gathered in-depth information directly from companies about how they approach and prioritize their IT investments. The research identified and ranked the companies following an extensive online and phone study.
