Allied Van Lines Helps ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Prepare New Home for Ailing San Francisco Girl
CHICAGO, December 9, 2004 — Allied Van Lines’ agent Nor-Cal Moving Services will move the Sears family’s belongings out of their Martinez, Calif., home today in record time as part of ABC’s hit show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Nor-Cal Moving Services will move and store the family’s possessions, as their home is renovated to meet the special needs of 17-year-old Jhyrve Sears while she recovers from treatment for a rare disease that attacks her nervous system.
Nor-Cal Moving Services in San Leandro, Calif., will provide up to 20 professional movers and packers to sort the family’s items and transport them to storage – in only five hours. As the house renovation is completed seven days later, Nor-Cal will move the family back into their home.
Each episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition changes the lives of a family in challenging circumstances, completely renovating their home in seven days. The team, lead by carpenter Ty Pennington, consists of designers, contractors and hundreds of workers who rebuild the family’s home - interior, exterior and landscaping included.
Past episodes have chronicled the team enlarging a home for a couple expecting triplets, rebuilding a home for eight children who lost their parents, and making a home more accessible for a wheelchair-bound young man. The episode featuring the Sears family is scheduled to air during the 2005 season.
This is the third time an Allied Van Lines agent will be participating in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Allied has recently participated in episodes taking place in Seattle and Los Angeles.
“We’re very excited to be a part of this. It’s a great way to help someone while doing what we do best – quick, efficient moves,” said Peter Mazzetti Jr., President of Nor-Cal Moving Services.
