Allied Van Lines Launches New Web Site — The Definitive Source on Moving
Westmont, Ill., May 12, 2004 – According to conservative estimates, more than 50 million Web sites exist in the world. Yet few, if any, can provide advice on how to transport your pet kitten across the country; compare student/teacher ratios in a specific school district; and offer cost of living estimates for just about any city, under one banner.
Allied Van Line’s new Web site (www.allied.com) is more than just another stop on the Internet highway; it is designed to be the world’s definitive source of information for relocating families.
And, it was launched just at the right time – at the beginning of National Moving Month in May.
Between May and September, more than 21 million families will relocate. During this moving “crunch time,” mobile families need real-time answers about the moving process and issues that can delay or even derail a move if not answered quickly – and accurately.
“Our new Web site is designed to be all encompassing,” says Tim Schneeman, general manager of Allied Van Lines. “We want it to answer every question about a move, from the climate of a new city to the current mortgage rates available.”
“Our goal for this site was to create the online relocation source so families can focus on their new lives and not spend precious time searching for answers to basic, but critical questions.”
The new site includes:
• Ballpark Estimator – estimated cost of a professional move within minutes through four easy-to-follow steps. • City Reports – detailed city profiles including cost of living comparisons, school reports and even traffic patterns.
• Salary Calculators – helpful information on the buying power consumers will have in their new city based on their current salary.
• A Countdown to Moving Day – a step-by-step guide for an upcoming relocation, illustrated tutorials and online moving videos.
• International Moves – information on what you can and can’t bring across borders, what items you should ship and what you should bring along with you on the flight.
• Packing Tips – recommendations and advice on how to safely wrap and pack treasured family heirlooms and household items.
• Preparing Children – advice on how to help them cope in their new surroundings and advice on how to deal with a child who doesn’t want to move.
• Family Fun – E-move cards to share your new address and an interactive, “pop-able” bubble wrap game.
